About the university

A modern and dynamic university with a rich history and traditions, a leading scientific and methodological center in the field of teacher education in the Central Black Earth Region - this is what Voronezh State Pedagogical University is today. Founded in 1931 on the basis of the pedagogical faculty of Voronezh State University, it trained more than 65 thousand teachers, most of whom found themselves in demand not only in the region, but in various parts of Russia, near and far abroad.

Currently, eight faculties of the Voronezh State Pedagogical University (history, physics and mathematics, natural geography, Russian language and literature, foreign languages, psychological and pedagogical, physical education and life safety, art education) and the Institute of Culture and Art provide training in 42 areas and specialties.

There are 585 teachers working at 46 departments, among them 76 doctors of science and professors, 277 candidates of science, including three Honored Scientists of Russia, 10 Soros professors and associate professors, 20 Honored Workers of Higher Schools and Honorary Workers of Higher Professional Education. Milestones in the history of VSPU

1931 - On July 13, the Voronezh Agrarian and Pedagogical Institute was founded on the basis of the pedagogical faculty of Voronezh State University. The institute had 5 departments: historical and economic, physical and technical, natural, literary and linguistic, and Ukrainian. On November 5, the first issue of the large-circulation newspaper “For Pedagogical Personnel” was published.

1934 - departments were transformed into faculties: history, literature, physics and mathematics, natural sciences. The Faculty of Geography was opened.

1941 - the 3-year Institute of Foreign Languages ​​joined the VSPI as a Faculty of Foreign Languages.

1942 - On July 4, the evacuation of the institute began. On August 28, teachers and students arrived in the city of Urzhum, Kirov region.

1944 - the university returned from evacuation to Voronezh.

1948 - the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports was opened

1957 - the faculty of training primary school teachers was opened. Lasted until 1966.

1959 - the Industrial and Pedagogical Faculty was opened. Lasted until 1966.

1960 - the student canteen of the institute was put into operation.

Voronezh State Pedagogical University (VGPU) began its existence in 1931. Art and art education

The most creative department of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Voronezh State Pedagogical University is the Faculty of Arts and Art Education. Headquarters of student teams of VSPU
